Once upon a time, in the bustling city of Athens, there lived a woman named Elina. Elina was a passionate and dedicated teacher of world languages.
She had been fascinated by languages and culture since she was a kid. She began her academic journey by earning a Bachelor in French Literature from Athens National University.
After graduating, she embarked on a somewhat unconventional path, joining the corporate world for business training. While in the corporate world, she recognized her unique talent for languages and studied for a Diploma in Trilingual Translation, further enhancing her linguistic skills. But deep down, her heart longed for something more fulfilling.
Her love for language and culture was the initial spark that ignited her passion for teaching.
After a few years of working in the corporate sector, Elina made a bold decision to follow her true calling and dedicate herself to the art of teaching. She went back to graduate school and earned a Master in Applied Linguistics and Teaching French as a Foreign Language.
Her journey as a teacher began in an international school in Athens, where she was helping her students understand the beauty of foreign languages and the richness of world cultures. Her teaching methods were innovative and engaging and her passion for teaching, fueled by her genuine love for linguistics, soon brought her on the top of the pool of state education teachers, So, she went on teaching in various state schools in Athens.
Teaching in state education in Greece was not without its challenges. Anyone who’s been a state school teacher knows that there’s no more underpaid job in the world. But Elina's commitment to her students success and her passion for education never wavered. She believed in the power of education to change lives, and this belief drove her forward.
With a fervent desire for international experience, Elina made a bold decision to leave behind the familiar and teach in London. In the state schools of London, she gained valuable insights into different educational settings and learned how technology could transform teaching.
Teaching abroad was a thrilling and daunting experience. Elina had to adapt to a new education system and connect with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
While in London, she attended professional development workshops and sharpened her skills in educational technology. She saw the potential of EdTech to enhance the teaching and learning experience, not just in London but everywhere in the world.
As the years went by, Elina's desire to make language learning more accessible and engaging for her students grew stronger. She could see the limitations of traditional frameworks, with their rigid structures and lack of personalization. She had witnessed how smart even her weakest students sounded when they learn about things that genuinely interested them. She noticed that her students were glued to their personal devices not because their teachers required it, but because they wanted it. Elina thought that she had to find a way to turn her students' fascination for mobile technology into a learning opportunity and she started exploring web 2.0 tools to develop a blended learning method that would make learning truly relevant and engaging for digital natives .She could see her vision for a better education through the glow on her students' faces.
When the time came for Elina to return to Greece, she was armed with a wealth of experience and a dream for learning without boundaries. Returning to Athens, she embarked on a mission to create an aspiring eLearning project that would cater to the diverse needs of language learners worldwide. She dedicated herself to this project. She started designing interactive modules that immersed students in real-life scenarios, and she looked for ways to incorporate cultural insights and cross curricular content to make learning a rich and meaningful experience accessible to everyone.
The journey was far from easy. Elina faced financial challenges but her strong commitment to her dream pushed her forward. She kept up teaching in state education in Greece, while also working part-time tutoring jobs to fund her project. Late nights and long hours of trying to get to grips with technological issues beyond her specialty became Elina’s norm, but she knew it was all worth it. With a little help from her friends, she managed to build an LMS and bring to life The LearninGlobal Project: She wanted this project to be a virtual hub for educators, students, and parents and all like-minded people who seek better learning opportunities:
That’s how The LearninGlobal Project was born. It was a teacher’s desire to see a glow on every learners' face and it was put into action with the aspiration to make a significant impact on how we see education and learning everywhere in the world.
